Our review of the Bierbuik - Bloemeke
Located in the heart of a busy street in the “Vieux Lille” or Old Lille, the bierbuik- bloemeke is a short walk from the main square of Lille and its famous fountain of the goddess.
Long awaited by all fans of the talented locavore chef Florent Ladeyn, the bierbuik -bloemeke is a new generation of the Flemish Estaminet.
In this modern & cozy pub, you’ll find the same philosophy as in the starred chef’s two other restaurants in Lille and the Flanders.
All products are exclusively regional and supplied from a 100 km radius from organic or sustainable farms.
The bonus? It’s also a brewpub.
The beers produced onsite are ephemeral and brewed according to the seasons and inspiration with the same "farm-to-glass" philosophy: exclusively local ingredients.
What’s in my plate
The bierbuik -bloemeke is two concepts in one.
The bierbuik, a beer belly in Flemish, is the Brewpub or a next-generation estaminet.
In the Flanders and North of France, the estaminet is part of the heritage. It’s a café where people would meet after work to discuss the day around a beer or playing cards.
When the starred chef revisits the concept, it gives birth to a locavore brewpub that will undoubtedly become the new place to stop for Lille residents.
Settled on large tables, you’re invited to share the selection of dishes of the day, some of which, such as Maroille French Fries, already have an excellent reputation.
All this with a beer brewed here or a selection of regional friend brewers.
Most of the dishes are cooked over a wood fire, and the prices are very friendly.
The Bloemeke, meaning small flower, is located on the first floor.
Here, you’ll discover a more cozy loft atmosphere and a bistronomy offer that stays very affordable, and above all delicious.
For lunch or dinner, you’ll be proposed a set menu : Starter, main course, dessert and drink for 25 € - a formula previously proposed at lunch at the Bloempot the first restaurant of the Chef in Lille.
We could make it our go-to place in Lille.
The atmosphere is friendly, the cuisine is excellent and authentic, the friendly prices convinced us.
Another proof that local and regional cuisine can be creative, and accessible to everyone.
Our tip: Bierbuik is without reservation, but online reservation required for the Bloemeke
