Eklo, located in the Bastide-Niel eco-neighbourhood on the right bank of the Garonne in Bordeaux, is part of a new 100% French accommodation chain. Open in June 2019, it is the latest Eklo hotel in France, after Eklo Lille, Le Mans, and Le Havre.
Halfway between a hostel and a hotel, the site focuses on conviviality and respect for the environment. It reinvents the concept of budget hotels, to offer a framework that facilitates exchanges and personal development.
From private rooms, family rooms, studios or dorms, there’s options for everyone to choose from, all decorated in a warm atmosphere.
Cherry on the cake, the access to common areas and coworking spaces, to work, relax or even cook.
Eklo is built with local and sustainable materials and the entire conception of the building is designed to limit the environmental impact:
- solar panels on the roof;
- lighting by LED bulbs ;
- electricity savers in the rooms;
- water aerator in showers;
- small tanks in the toilets;
- sorting bins on each floor….
An interesting part of the concept, is also to be budget friendly. You will consume what you need and pay for what you use. That’s true for room cleaning, toileteries or pet access for example.
On-site catering favors local products in majority and organic as often as possible.
Final green touch, the hotel has a zero-waste approach, limiting single-use packaging and cutlery, all organic waste is composted on site and the veggie garden brings even a more local touch to the restaurants food offer.
