Located on the IJ River, exactly where the boats used to board for Jakarta, this hotel is one of the first to be energy neutral in the Netherlands.
The hotel is quite central and is located only a 20 minute walk from the Central Train Station.
Open during the summer of 2018, and already awarded for its eco-conception, the building was built using sustainable and recylclable materials.
- Its most remarkable feature is undoubtedly its incredible bamboo structure, the keystone of the entire building.
- The bamboo especially and other materials used for the conception of the building are carbon neutral.
- Recylable carpets, recycled paper at the reception, upto sustainably made uniforms for the staff, the hotel has many eco-friendly characteristics, the reception staff will be happy to detail more at check in.
- The hotel also houses solar panels on the roof as well as on the roof green-house windows and a rainwater collector. The solar panels are mainly used to provide hot water in the showers of the 200 rooms of the hotel.
One of the Hotel’s lobby main highlights is the indoor tropical garden, designed in collaboration with Hortus Botanicus, the historical botanical garden of Amsterdam. The greywaters collected throughout the building are used to water the garden.
Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam offers its guests spacious and bright rooms and suites decorated in Indonesian style.
Most of the rooms have a balcony with a view of the river or the waterfront. The balconies have a temperature regulating function which keeps warmth in the winter and freshness during the hot summer days.
Final treat, you can have breakfast and meals at the Jakarta café or have a drink at Sky Bar Malabar, which is located on the 8th and 9th floors of the building. Since 2019, the menus offer vegan and vegetarian options.
