Company Description
Located in the small fishing village of Maung Shwe Lay, 45 minutes by boat from Ngapali Beach, Lalay lodge is a 100% community based beachfront hotel.
Set on a white sand cove, far off the beaten track, the lodge is a choice for those who want to practice authentic tourism, in a sustainably run hotel, which benefits the community.
An ideal place to disconnect and live at the rhythm of the local community. Waking up to the crowing of the rooster, village chores and preparation of fish products.
Lalay Lodge has implemented many principles of sustainable tourism.
It was built using only local labour and materials. The village is not connected to the electricity network. The lodge is powered by solar panels for electricity and hot water production. Guests are made aware of the need to use energy sensibly, favouring sunny periods for their electricity needs.
There are no disposable plastics on site and grey water is recycled for watering the garden. Most of the plants that make up the garden do not require much water.
A part from the operating manager, the staff is 100% from the village. They prepare delicious traditional dishes for you, at the hotel open-air restaurant.
Local and regional suppliers be it for food or daily operations are preferred to make sure this newly opened tourism business benefits to the community and locals in priority.
Many activities and excursions are proposed by the lodge, to make the most of your holiday. From free SUPaddles, to snorkeling material, or guided village visits, to excursions to discover the surrounding nature and culture.
